shrubs from 1-5 m tall with thorny shoots, native to the
temperate and subtropical regions of Europe, Asia, Africa,
North America and South America.
Edible berries, rich with vitamin C.

Which-hazel blooms in the late fall and winter when its
leaves are out. Used to be considered a cure for
anything and everything, now is not considers a cure for
anything. The truth is probably somewhere in between.
The which-hazel family has trees and shrubs, deciduous and
evergreens, bisexual or male-female types.

Pea family.
Can be a shrub or a tree. Produces pods. Flowers
are purple-pink and appear before leaves in early spring.
Leaves are heart-shaped with untoothed margins. Native
Americans consumed flowers and seeds raw or boiled.
Another name for this tree is
the Judas Tree. According to the legend, Judas
hanged himself on this tree and once white flowers are now
forever red with shame.
