Parking: See previous page last 2 hikes.  Only difference - need to drive a little less to the intersection with the Tuscarora/Country Line Tr. 

Trails: RT5/1 - RT371 (Wilson Cove Tr.) - Old Mail Path Tr. - Tuscarora (Three Ponds Tr.) - Racer Camp Hollow Tr. - Vance's Cove Tr. - Connector Tr. to the Gerhard Shelter - County Line Tr.

Notes:  Section to the Gerhard shelter is very strenuous.

Trails: no official trails, just a wide road in the woods.

Notes:  Don't do this hike in the hunting season.  This hike is good for those who like road walking and a little bushwhacking.

    Second Trip: RT691 (Devil's Mtn.)  Waypoints D01 - D17 loop.

Notes:  Rather strenuous hike.  Very rewarding though - a lot of beautiful overlooks and streams.  Had a lot of show on the North Mtn. Tr. in spite of very hot temperature for over a week.

    Second Trip: The weather was cloudy most of the time, no great views, still the hike was very exciting.

 

Hike 4.  Redbud2.  Tuscarora Tr.

 

Club: MWROP.

Leaders: Chris Nolen and Tuesday Group hikers.

Date: 04/13/2004

Parking: Start: Rt. 66 to the end.  Turn left to Rt. 81 south.  Take exit 291 to the South East.  Turn Right to Rt. 11 (Old Valley Pike).  At the entrance to the town of Maurertown, turn right and park near the street.

End: Return to Rt. 81 and take it back to exit 296 North West and take Rt. 55 West.  Drive to the top of the Mtn. where the intersection with the Tuscarora Tr. is marked and take the next street right.  It's route 5021 or 502 (depending on the map).  Drive to the first turn left - road to the Hawk Campground.

Trails: Tuscarora Tr. in VA and WV.
