Hike 3.  Buzzard Rock Tr. - Sherman Gap Tr.

Notes: In the first hike the loop was done in the counterclockwise direction, in the second - clockwise.  Second was much easier.  To make it a little harder, 

    we used the old Shawl Gap Tr. (without switchbacks of the new one).

 

 

Hike 4.  Runkles Gap - Third Mtn.

Parking:  Warrenton, RT211 pass Shenandoah N.P. pass Luray, turn left on RT340 before Massanutten, go to the town of Shanandoah, turn to RT602, turn right 

    on RT636 (Runkles Gap Rd.) all the way to the trailhead.

Hike 5. Strickler Knob Bushwhack.

Parking:  Warrenton, RT340(RT211) pass Shenandoah N.P., pass Luray, right after starting to go uphill in the Massanutten Mtns. there is a parking on the right.

Notes: Going up to Strickler Knob the last quarter mile or so is a nice rock scamble.  Note that the two old woods roads that you cross are at wp168 and wp174

(at intersection with current trail). These both seem to be the "jeep trails" on the old map and just parallel the current trail.
