Hike 1.  Scothon Gap - Rt. 211 - New Market Gap

Warnings: steep downhill.  Road stretch is dangerous.

Notes: very pretty hike.  Good overlooks.

Warnings: saw a huge bare.  It started following me, not chasing but rather out of curiosity.  I went back to the slower people in the group, we made a lot of nose and it disappeared.

Notes: the Strickler's Knob Trail is cleared now.  Still a little too rugged but well blazed.

Notes: the hike where I confirmed that there is no public route to the Shenandoah River, that the ridge parallel to the Duncan Knob ridge does not have a trail.  Met an interesting property owner and saw his mysterious pond.
